I love my Busso

Some of you may have seen a couple of these pics already, but one week in and I am absolutely smitten with my latest acquisition - a very tidy 1999 Series 1 156 2.5L V6 Q-system auto with 100k on the clock.

Ever since my last one was incinerated, I have desperately missed the power and growl of that magnificent Busso.

It is intoxicating. And I especially love the red leather interior - way nicer than the bone interior of my old one. Even the after market rims have grown on me to the point where I no longer plan to source some original teledials.

Couldn't agree more, but you forgot one more point. The magnificent engine bay <3

Haha, yeah, weather has been so wild here today I haven't had a chance to take any snaps of the heart...

Importantly, given that my last one self-immolated, my first item of business during the week was to have the fumey fuel tank fixed, and I have just now fitted a fire extinguisher in easy reach under the front of the front passenger seat.

Just to close out the loop, here is her mighty beating heart...

I haven't had a chance to clean her up yet, but she will spruce up nicely.

Busso v6 would have to be one of the very best V6 engines ever designed and built. For me anyway. ;)

Two Alfas are better than one ...

So I've decided to keep the old girl.

Another small step in her gradual makeover this weekend, I fitted a mesh grille same as I had on my first 156. I just think they look a bit tidier and slightly more exotic.

Ooooh I like that a lot. Goes really well with those wheels, which I am envious of haha.

Cheers Andrew. Now to sort out the roof!

Just got a quote to repair the peeling clear coat on the roof - $800 (basically a full sand and respray). So I have bitten the bullet and booked the car in next week to have the roof wrapped in gloss black - $300. Fingers crossed it looks as good as I think it should. I will post pics once it is done.

Very exciting, should look great. $300 sounds really reasonable, much better than $800! (You can buy a 164 for that"  ;D )

I found this pic on Google, gives you an idea on how it will turn out. Very nice I must say.

Cheers Andrew, I was just about to do a Google search for one with it done already.
