twin charge Alfetta article - a couple of corrections...sorry!
« on: September 29, 2010, 11:19:04 PM »
I just got a copy of the Spring cross and Serpent, there were a couple of typos, but annoyingly, I got the w/mK for alloy and copper the wrong way around, which then made it hard to understand what I was trying to get at, so just to be clear:

Copper is better at transfering heat than Alluminium, a fact made clear by Cu heat transfer of 400w/mK and Alluminium  of 250w/mK (I had it the other way around...can't beleive I missed it).

Another one I have since learnt is that whilst I was told by a reputable clutch / Alfa place that the 3liter dedion had  a larger clutch diameter, this is incorrect.  The clutch is no different in this regard.  We live and learn!

Finally, my clutch I run is the tilton twin plate, I note that a pic was added to the article for the tilton, but the article refers to a brass button single plate.  I originally purchased a single plate to use, but it never got put in the car as a good tilton came up at the right price.  I did try running the stock Alfa clutch, but this fried shortly after the dyno run...when I remove it, it was blue, cracked and not lookign very happy for itself!

Hope that cleared that up, and that the article was of some use to people, there's lots I didn't add in the article and would be mpore than happy to help/chat with people about similar conversions.

cheers
Mike

where do you get the spring scross and serpent ??

I never knew the specs of the heat transfer on the alluminium and copper, But i used to play around with computers before i ewas into cars and upgrading the heat sinks from alluminium to copper was a common upgrade.
