FYI...

•   Club CPS signatories are now listed on VR's mainframe computer. VR is still working towards getting all CPS vehicles listed on the mainframe, at which time the police will be able to easily do an electronic check. In the mean time don't be surprised if the police pull you over when driving a CPS vehicle so that they can check that you are a current club member (should have your current club membership card with you), the vehicle has a current permit and the log book is filled out. Apparently it is against the law to pre-fill out the log book for a multi day event. It must be filled out day by day.

Thanks - didn't know the bit about carrying club membership card.

Does that imply that only the owner should be driving the car? Another driver (friend/family) wouldn't necessarily be a club member...

And how about if your friendly mechanic (who fills out the log book properly) takes it for a test drive?

My interpretation would be the membership card being available is only going to assist the police officer in determining if the permit is valid.

Surely if the officer had doubts the membership is current and the permit holder wasn't driving, the direction would be for the permit holder to front up to a police station with the membership card.

The fact that the permit holder needs to be a current member is administrative overhead for the authorities.
