CAMS should allow this for Group Sc.
An all fiberglass body 2 door ( Coupe)
A 1975 Trabant , the one in the picture is the larger capacity 610 cc 2 stroke, or locally known as the ''Big Block''.
A tribute to Cold War design

What are the Group S requirements regarding roll-cages.
There might be a problem with attaching a roll cage to the chassis of a Trabant, assuming of course that this model has a chassis, or indeed anything else that would make it competitive.
Because of the power output from the Trabant big block you would probably have to limit its power output or include a rev limiter.
I guess that with the demise of the Cold War we can blame just about anything on that period of European history but I doubt if even the Cold War deserves to be blamed for this one.
Hey Sheldon. There is a new contender for the title of shitbox. Fabulous power to weight specs. Reliablity is the name of the game here. :D :D
There would be no need to wear a helmet because anyone silly enough to drive a Trabbi hasn't got a brain worth protecting.
Hey John,
What is with the trendy Bultaco t-shirt?
Shouldn't you be wearing a hip Veloce t-shirt instead... ::)
Dont be so hard on the humble Trabant. I rekon if we had enough of them , it would make a great 1 make series.
Paul , you shoudnt worry about my taste in T shirts. For the record i have been wearing my Veloce shirts around GREECE and Croatia
Hollywood
Hollywood, it would make sense if you actually owned a Bultaco, but you don't even own a motorcycle... ::)
Given the body is made of cardboard - would the roll cage be made from cardboard tube....and glued into position with clag...or perkins paste for greater structural ridgidity...paper mache race seats maybe...
I suspect the paint job is so good it holds it all in..
As hilarious as it might seem, i reckon the idea of a trabbi challenge is pretty cool, afterall out here in Aus they used to have a series for postie bikes, while in the Uk, Citroen 2CVs. You could always go one further have a Trabbi vs Reliant Robin series, how funny would that be ! ;D I nearly pissed myself reading Scott's comments - perfect !!
They're made of plastic, not cardboard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duroplast
I'd race one. I'd probably move the fuel tank from it's regular position though, of above the engine.....
Hey,
They look like the globe wheels choderboy is trying to sell
looks like Musco's Sprint with a yellow stripe...
Sheldon, going by your pic, the Trabby looks like she's a bit soft in the front suspension, or is it the plastic heating up in race conditions and adding some unwanted body flex!
Having a close look at the Russian Tank Green Trabant in Croatia still makes me think it would make a great 1 make race series . Just think how much horsepower you can get out of a 2stroke610cc
ah yes and that was the "big Block" ;D woo hoo !!
Going off topic....but John is your new avatar pic a result of Sandown?
I haven't even lifted the bonnet on the GT.
That was some archival footage from the 1st blowup
I tried to get a pic of me in front of Steve( Bert) C..........
but I could not get the profile to accept the pic
Hollywood
Well since they are made of plastic maybe some plastic water pipe (you know the white stuff) would suffice for a cage....
Gee, things are bit quite in Group S land!!!!
