Title: 1980 GTV - petrol additives
Post by: kartone on May 27, 2009, 12:41:21 PM
Should I be using additives in the petrol to safeguard engine components ?
If so, what is available in the market and where can they be purchased ?
MANY  THANKS

Hi Mate,

I'm currently using Flashlube with premium unleaded in my 1981 2 litre. Apparently it looks after your valves and keeps the fuel system clean.

http://www.flashlube.com.au/en/valvesaverfluid/index.html

Have a read on the website to make sure your happy with the specs.

It seems to work ok for me  :-\. I would be interested to see other feedback on it or maybe a better alternative.

Regards
Mile

i too use(d) flashlube in my 2lt. especially as when it was last running (2006) we didnt have 98 ron on pump in tas. i think anything that can help keep the burning process cleaner is a good idea, but i will stand corrected if there is evidence otherwise.

scott.

Hi all,
It is my understanding that it is unecessary with sodium filled stainless valves and hard valve seats etc as Alfas are constructed so I dont use anything.I have not had any ill effects but I guess it cant hurt,to be sure,to be sure!.
