Title: Rubber gubios rubber couplings tailshaft
Post by: carlo rossi on May 25, 2021, 06:11:01 PM
What are rubber gubios parts numbers for 1984 2000 gtv
There seem to be a lot of variations

Hi Carlo
I don't think AR part numbers are used any more for these 'pattern parts'. I replaced all 3 of them on my 2.0l '84 Giulietta years ago, I got them from Classic Alfa UK. I assume the are the same for the GTV. I still have the old ones and will post up photos. I know 2 of the 3 are the same.

Matthew at Alfamen in his day sourced as close to identical BMW gubios for my 1975 Gt some five years ago. They worked out to be around a third of the price for the set of three (approx $300) compared to the others he wasn't hopeful of sourcing and guaranteeing integrity. Still going strong today.  My only mistake at the time was not asking him for the parts numbers....  as I assumed he would still be kicking goals over in the West today.

Hi Carlo,

You will find all the part numbers for the Alfetta prop shafts here:

thanks for all the help, I purchased another tailshaft to build up
BUt I thought all late model 2 ltrs came with a 55mm centre bearing this has a 52mm
so I paid a premium to what appears to be a pre 1982 shaft
any thoughts on this guys are the post 82s 55mm or 52mm

All the 4cylinder Alfetta based cars had od 52mm bearing

the V6 transaxle cars had a od 55mm bearing

even the ID of the bearings are different

Found this at every spares
They say post 82 models have 55mm
Centre like the v6

And everything posted on the internet is always 100% correct??

In my previous post I made  2 incorrect statements. All 3 giubos are different although 2 look similar, and I didn't buy them from Classic Alfa, I can't remember where I bought them from, that was around 2009.
One image shows the centre bearing support it measures at 52mm. The other image is of all giubos from left to right : rear, centre, front. They are in the forward facing position. Hope this can help.

Just so that all bases are covered in the case of the centre bearing support mount, it is OFFSET.

If you get desperate and cannot locate an original complete new mount, it is possible to cut off the actual bearing retainer from the tunnel mount and transplant that mount to a new bearing mount. This is so that you can retain the correct offset as most supports hold the bearing in a central position and that just wont do.

well after 8 hours got the new one in
interesting it hada 55mm bearing holder witha 52mm bearing
they used a type of locktight to build it up (YUK)
the spherical bearings were not spherical anymore and bone dry
the flywheel locator stayed in the flywheel popped it out with a finger
the whole shaft is a throw away
