Title: Sump Guard
Post by: Merv on January 21, 2020, 11:10:20 AM
I am thinking that a sump guard might be sensible for the '68.  I can see them on CA but they are heavy and the distance long.  Any around in Australia?

Hi Merv

I have a sump guard available.
If you think it is too heavy,,you could delete a few bits from it.

Thanks Robert.  Will talk to you about it. Seems there are various views as to whether these are useful or nuisance.

Waste of time and money! Spend your money on new engine mounts and you won't need a sump guard.

Agreed! Are you bush bashing with your car?

New sumps are ~$200. Unless you have a perfect OE sump which maybe you want to hang on the wall, just drive the car with care.

I have thrown away (well, sent to the metal recycler) lots of these over the years as I don't believe a horrible steel lump should cover the lovely finned alloy sump on a 105.

Yes Luke, after talking with Robert on the pros and cons and looking at new sunup prices, I didn't get one.  My engine mounts are new anyway.
