Title: Bodyshop for my Sprint
Post by: McLovin on January 04, 2020, 01:12:52 PM
Hi all, first time poster here but i have a new 1981 Sprint in my life and while it is in pretty decent shape it does need a bit of rust repair and a respray.  Can anyone recommend a place for me to take it?  Not looking to win a concours but want a good job done.

A respray can be a slippery slope as if done properly, is incredibly time consuming and very expensive. However, panel work not done properly is a waste of money IMO.

Painting a Sud is not expensive (could be sub $10K at a guesstimate for a non bare metal respray with glass left in the car) but properly fixing rust adds a lot to the cost. The problem is the extent of work can't be gauged until the paint/ trim is removed. One small bubble of rust on a panel or below the front windscreen can be extensive on the inside of the panel which is where the rust usually starts.

I have used three specialist restoration panel shops in Melbourne over many years that know Alfa's and only trust one these days. Adriaan's Restoration's in Bayswater.

Good luck
Paul

Awesome thanks for the recommendation.   My love of the little b'stard outweighs my rationality for spending the cash...
