Title: V6 Coolant Bridging Pipe
Post by: Bobm on January 04, 2020, 10:09:57 AM
Can anyone advise why the coolant bridging pipe from the water pump at the front to the thermostat at the rear of the Busso V6 fitted to a 2000 GTV can't be made of aluminium alloy?

Thanks,
Bob.

Hi Bob
My guess is that it's all about manufacturing costs to be kept to a minimum and providing a part that is fit for purpose.

Thanks bono.

$265 + postage from the UK seems a bit steep for a piece of thin walled pipe that will corrode and cause dramas again on removal next time.

I have the ability to machine one up out of alloy, just needed to know if there were reasons other than manufacturing costs that would suggest this not an option.

Bob.

I assume you are referring to item 1 on the attached parts list. If so, then the part requires to be machined to accept the o-rings/seals that form part of the water pump assembly.

Please note that you are able to purchase part in AUS for $288 at the link below.
