Title: Parts in Australia
Post by: Merv on December 23, 2019, 01:21:58 PM
Could I ask about the best source of classic Alfa (68 GTV) parts in Australia? Finally got my car and wanted to order some new bits.

Many thanks Merv

I have been looking thru their stock and prices seems pretty decent.  I will put together a package of stuff.  I wonder how their freight goes - in house or external.

Locally...waste  your money with gst and freight  if you want  but Alfa 105 in Wa is good for for some bits, i,e i have purchased door rubbers, window felts, suspension rubbers, door handles, repair sections,  1750 consol timber,    and more,,

worth a phone call

ClassicAlfa are brilliant with freight and DHL is one of the best.  I've had parts ordered on a Friday night arrive Tuesday/Wednesday.  They're also brilliant if they make a mistake, sending the right ones immediately (after being advised) and sending DHL to pickup and return the wrong ones (inner sills/Duetto).

I wouldn't hesitate to use them for absolutely everything

Just make sure and tell them exactly what it is you need, the model etc.. there are many different variations of bits over the years that are not obvious

Merry Christmas!

It's very sad to read that the support of local or interstate Italian car part suppliers are not mentioned.
The Alfa car club should be first to support local businesses. Members are very quick to mention companies like Classic Alfa and other international parts suppliers, but we should try local first.

A phone call or email to a local supplier doesn't hurt. You can always try Turin Imports, Italian Automotive Spares and Ciliberti Motors. I've never had any problems.

I have been buying parts.  Many from Classic Alfa.  Can't believe their low prices and also their amazingly fast freight.  I also have been getting some stuff from Robert at Manning Motors in Sydney.  He has some nice hard to find bits.

I think it has b come harder and harder for local suppliers.  I have a good friend who used to sell parts in Queensland but has stopped now.  I have bought plenty of parts from various UK and American suppliers ( although freight has been a killer for US stuff mostly).  What I am much more concerned by is the declining quality of parts.  The reproduction parts to a large degree are junk.  Yes have found that with everything from hydraulic cylinders to chrome bits.

In addition to the above, I have attached a link to Jeffs website which lists basically all classic Alfa Parts worldwide on the one site. For those that are not familiar with Jeff, he is currently restoring a Alfa 105 which is to be powered by a Ferrari motor and covers a series of Youtube videos on the build.

Thanks guys.  I found Planet 105. I was interested in his steering column shroud but it was all LHD.  The Parts by Jeff is useful.  He also does the same with Porsche parts.  Interesting software use  to make that happen.

I have a range of items coming from Robert at Manning Motors.  He has good supplies of original parts.

Can't say enough good things about Robert at Manning Motors.  He is a true enthusiast even after 30+ years and always happy to chat and give excellent advice.  His supply of original parts is excellent.

I am, however, interested in anyone who has a decent quality rubber boot/trunk mats for a series 1 1750.
