Title: Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV 2014 - Engine Bay Noise/ Whine/ Tick (With Video)
Post by: jvidd on November 06, 2019, 09:13:32 PM
Hi All,

My Giulietta QV that I just bought (48,000kms) has a weird whine/ tick noise when accelerating/ gaining revs, when driving and in park. It's quite noticeable and doesn't at all sound like a standard tick from injectors etc. It gets higher pitch with higher revs. Any ideas? The timing belt was replaced only at the end of last year, although it's coming from that area of the engine bay.

Thanks in advance!

Joel.

I believe it's a noisy high pressure fuel pump you are hearing, unfortunately it's quite common on the Giulietta QV.

+1.

Most of them are quite noisey. To check if this noise is the pump, upon first start in the morning, have the bonnet up, and with the engine idling listen to the noise, if the frequency/rate of the clicking changes after 20 seconds or so, it's definitely the fuel pump, however it isn't really any cause for concern.
