Title: Car not starting
Post by: spid57 on October 13, 2019, 08:34:34 AM
Hi all, I've just joined up and hoping some can help. I've had issues with my 2004 156. Alfa V6 24 valve not starting when getting hot. I have replaced the cam sensor but after 2 days started playing up again. Is the a switch on the gearbox that could be creating issues. Seems to have when on a slope and pressure on the gearbox. 2 hours I had to wait before it started again.
Need help.
Thanks in advance.

Does the engine crank over when this occurs??

If the car cranks but does not start and has to be left to cool down then it is most likely the Crankshaft Sensor that is faulty, not the Camshaft Sensor.

Where is Qld are you?

I have also sent you a PM.

Also, if it has troubles starting when warm, rather than hot or cold, that could also be faulty temp sensor (or its connection) on thermostat.
