Title: What rims are these?
Post by: Campbeli on August 13, 2019, 09:24:30 PM
My GT Junior rides on a set of 14 inch rims that I suspect are not original.
Apart from the full chrome treatment, it's the difference in their inside compared to the spare.
The chromes have welded sections whilst the rim for the spare does not.
Any ideas?(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190813/3c039d20886381c6962d240841a6d75c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190813/4d2cad4ed0f23736ad5a1e080f84e767.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190813/b4357ff803c7da6f94c0c8c00481878c.jpg)

At a quick glance, I'd say the chrome ones have been re-hooped. Are there any markings on the actual rim, or inside?

I've been looking for markings (expecting to see the rim width) but haven't found anything like that.
Is it possible the rims where hooped to widen them to accomodate a wider tyre? 195/70 14's are fitted.

Date stamp etc will be under the tyre in  the middle of the centre part of the rim well at least that is where they are from 72, 73 and 74

So I've measured them and the hooped rims are 1/4 inch wider than the spare. Must have been made wider to accomodate 195's (which rub on the bodywork on track days)
I need new tyres and was thinking 185's but maybe they would not be right for the modified rims.
