Title: 159 JTD maintenance
Post by: ashvob on July 06, 2019, 11:46:45 AM
Hello all,

I am buying a used 2009 159 1.9l diesel in auto (no hate please) and I am wondering what all of you wonderful people would recommend in terms of regular maintenance to keep it in good condition. Just FYI, I live in the suburbs so I don't regularly get a good 15 mins without a red light to open her up for a regen, is it still possible to do this in urban areas or do I need to take a trip to the freeway? Otherwise, all tips from injector cleaner to wiper fluid would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ash,

The best advice I can give you is to take it to an Alfa specialist workshop and have them do a pre purchase inspection before you buy it. They will be able to thoroughly inspect the car in all aspects from RWC to potential upcoming expenses, ie. cam belt and water pump/inlet manifold/dpf blockage/suspension/accident damage etc. As a specialist knows the cars well and what to look for, or even signs of neglect in the past.

Cheers.

Mick.

Italian tune up every so often.

Ie, thrash it's guts out once in a while to heat things up.

But just a heads up if every trip you do is so short it doesn't get good temperature your fuel economy won't be that amazing.
