Title: Dealership
Post by: wturnbull on April 02, 2019, 06:37:35 PM
Would you believe it! Brisbane yet again appears to be without an Alfa Romeo dealership.

Huh? What happened to the Newfarm dealership?

Doesn't appear amongst the list of dealers on the A/R Australia website. Also, their website link is blank!

Under the LMM stable, Rolls Royce dealership rolls into Brisbane while A/R rolls out.

Then whats with their website and the removal from the Australian Alfa distributor list?

That's right - the dealer was not aware of this when asked. It's still not there!

Update! A/R Australia advised via Facebook message that the Brisbane dealership has "ceased sales". No mention of this when I visited yesterday. So Rolls in and Alfa out.

All linked to overall drop on car sales recently, so which umbrella group will be next to take on Bris A/R?

I will... Bazz, Cupcake... lets start an online Brisbane model, indie servicing, point of sale online, pop up shops in your local Westfield.

Where do we send the business case?

Looks like "Alfa Romeo Brisbane" has continued to do business under the BMW dealership of the Sime Darby group, much the same as after it parted from Euromarque at the Audi centre, Newstead (and no longer service 159's as they don't have the software).
The former showroom is now occupied by Maserati. Alfa's showroom now is more focused on Stelvios, including a QV.

Why it's no longer listed on A/R's website as a dealer remains unclear. The current arrangement could be similar to Ferrari, just up the road.

Online, dealership now comes up on Sime Darby's website: simedarbymotors.com.au

The old link that appears on this site, as you say bazz, "doesn't work" !!

Looks like Sime Darby Motors acquired the Bribane dealership back in 2017.

Why not announce it as a fait accompli, and laugh as the importers have to come to the party or look like complete fools.
QuoteBarry & Craig Pty Ltd are proud to become your new, perfectly located Alfa Romeo agents in Brisbane.

We look forward to sharing our passion for the marque with you, and becoming your first choice, both for new cars and expert maintenance to your classics.

What are Sime Darby going to do? "That is incorrect!  There is no Alfa dealer in Brisbane, and no official service agent!"  8)

Sure not a dealer as listed on the Alfa Australia site; however the Newstead shop appears the same as it was under the "official" list, with new Alfas on display and serviceing only new Alfas.

There was a small Sime Darby sign at the drive in entrance. Their site includes Alfa as one of their brands they represent but no longer mentions the Newstead shop as they did a few weeks back.
As mentioned before, they took over the dealership in September 2017.

Just rang a couple of Dealership numbers I had stored in my phone. The service manager's number (Brian) took me to Metricon homes.
The land line number took me to the Ferrari dealership. She said Brian no longer works for us. We are doing service for Alfa here, but not sales.

So is the Newstead showroom still operating for sales?
If so, under what ownership - Sime Darby?
I think Brian had earlier worked for Euromarque in Wickham Street.

LMM Holdings, a subsidiary of Sime Darby Motors seem still to be operating Brisbane Alfa Romeo and appear to control the distribution of other brands like BMW, Mini, Ferrari, Rolls Royce and even Volvo in Brisbane.

All external Alfa signage now removed from the Newstead premises with some inside, with a Giulia displayed.
Still a Syme Darby notice on the door. Premises set up now with a magnificent two-door Rolls Royce on the floor and towards the service area, Ferraris and BMW.

I guess there hasn't been since Newstead was listed on the Alfa website. Maybe Sime Darby takes its place just as well. They call it a 'collaboration' with A/R and 'acquired' the dealership from the then A/R dealership in Sep 2017. I heard Alfa service was done at the Ferrari centre (?)
Seems to be a lot of transition taking place.

I'm not surprised dealers are disappearing.

I just had a look at the V-facts Car Sales figures for July 2019.

Alfa Romeo nationally only sold 56 vehicles and are currently 43.4% down year to date.  :o

So now at Newstead; no external Alfa signage. Instead, Rolls Royce!!! Three "Rollers" on the floor as well as an assortment of Ferrari's, Mercs etc.
Still some internal signage for Fiat/Alfa (no cars) and an A4 size Sime Darby sign on a window.

I have enquired with Alfo Romeo AU re purchasing a Giulia in Brisbane and was told a new dealership will be in Brisbane 1st quater 2020..
For now I can buy from an interstate delership.

We will see..

BTW does anyone know where I can test deive a quatofolio in Brisbane?

Is the Newstead (Sime Darby) shop still stocking Alfa? They say they're still servicing new Alfa's.
Not surprising Alfa re-establishing a dealership in Brisbane again. The market is very changeable these days. Alfa staying in the game for the foreseeable with big changes at the top re FCA/Peugeot.

You can buy from either the Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast dealerships, don't know if either would have a Giulia QV in stock or not, you'd have to call them.

and run out of battery just as your coming into your street . . . . .  ;)

(I kid, I kid)  ;D ;D

Whilst I applaud the idea of electric cars they are utterly useless until someone can come up with one that you literally just plug into a 240 socket to charge. A recent client has a Tesla that parks in his work place garage, the owner needed the body corporate to vote and approve the installation of a charging station for it  . . . . . they voted no.

And yes, right next to where he parks is a 240v outlet.  ::)
