Title: PI Classic Festival of Motorsport - Club Display 9 & 10 March
Post by: Sportscar Nut on February 19, 2019, 08:52:19 PM
The club is participating in the Shannons Display Walk again this year so is a great opportunity for members to come down and watch the best weekend of historic motor racing in Australia (IMO) and display your Alfa. The Display Walk is situated on the main straight and a great place to watch the action.

We have about 20 spots for Saturday and Sunday so let me know if you are interested. Past years the cost has been 3 day entry pass for car & driver is $10 and $25 for each passenger (or $15 on Sun). Will confirm.

Highly recommended weekend of historic motor racing and should be plenty of Alfas on the track.

Plan is to meet at Smiths Beach shops (Smiths Beach Road) at 8.20m Sat & Sun which is a couple of minutes from the track and head off at 8.40am sharp to ensure a good parking spot on the main straight opposite the pits.

Regards
Paul

Hi Paul,

Huge event!  Lots of Alfas out and about and a great location to display our cars.  A very good day - weather perfect!

Egg and Bacon rolls at Smith Beach General Store as good as always.

Well done Paul!

What a great weekend. My personal non Alfa highlight was the Bolwell car club display. I have never seen that many Mark 7's and Nagari's in the one spot at the one time . When you consider how few of these cars were actually built and how long ago it was it was an outstanding turnout . I actually meet a couple of South Australian Bolwell owners and their cars near the Peninsula link ferry @ Sorrento  on their way home yesterday. They really enjoyed the weekend . Both Mark 7 owners and had owned the cars for in excess of 30 years and drive them regularly. "There not a piece of furniture" as one of them said to me . Great attitude .

Thanks Colin. Was a great weekend and agree with Paul that so many Bolwell's looked great and the different Australian engine combos interesting. Also liked the Torana display (still have a soft spot for em).

My highlight though was watching my mate in a Ralt RT4 'punch' up Allan Jones old F1 Beatrice.
