Title: Alfa Mito twin clutch gearbox wont go into 6th gear
Post by: marinoci on August 06, 2018, 10:44:12 PM
I recently purchased a 2011 Mito at a reasonable price but has an issue with Twin clutch transmission.

Seems there is an issue with 6th gear actuator, every time it tries to go into 6th gear it throws a transmission error and starts to beep.

I noticed there was an oil leak from engine rocket cover and oil seems to have gotten all over the gearbox plugs/cables.
I have degreased and cleaned up as much as i can an still get the error.

Is there anything else i should check, has anyone had same issue with 6th gear not engaging before?
I suspect the same transmission is in some Giulietta models.

Thanks,
Marino

Hi, is it only when the car is upshifting as you drive, that the problem occurs?

Gut feeling would be that if the accumulator is original it's finished (old age), and the actuators are just running out of stored pressure.

Unfortunately in your case it will be nothing but assumptions till the car has been run through a full diagnostics.

As it runs through all the gears but throws a wobbly in 6th then we know its not the accumulator, it could just simply need a calibration, (It is supposed to be done once a year but rarely gets done) or it could be a damaged 6th gear, or anywhere in between.

I suggest you book it in with your nearest Alfa Diagnostic specialist and have it properly diagnosed & calibrated.

In fact I believe there is one just round the corner from you.  ;)
