The fuel cap door release function on my Giulietta is not working ( on a regular basis) .I have been using the emergency release ( red wire in the boot) but not really a long term fix . I have read on some of the English forums the mechanism flex's with age. You can use something soft like a credit card under the latch whilst pushing to get it to release, again not a satisfactory long term fix . Anyone else had this problem or know of a long term fix . BazzBazz???

Its a failure of either the Petrol Flap Release Solenoid, Release Pivot Spring Pin or both.

Release Solenoid Part# 50552585
Spring Pin Part# 51851496
