Title: 159 1.9 JTDm heavy ticking/knocking noise
Post by: cazmada on June 27, 2016, 07:30:01 PM
Hi everyone, hope someone out there can shed some light on this,

My 159, 1.9 Jtdm has developed a heavy ticking noise/knocking sound , you can hear it inside the car, and sounds like s**t on the outside, The ticking is linked to engine speed.. seems to be loudest between 1000 - 2500rpm.
The sound developed slowly and is getting stronger over time, Could it be the injectors? or tappets/hydraulic lifter??? it is blowing a bit more smoke than usual.
its driving fine just the noise is pissing me off  >:( ,  it is due for a service at alfa men. I have had DPF remove, EGR blocked, ECU remapped, belts and chains replaced.
would just like to know what you guys think it could be.

Any ideas most welcome!!

I'd get the service date brought up to as soon as possible!

Hey Baz, Thanks for your reply

Hopefully I can get it to Alfa men next week, I like to get it serviced every 10,000 kilometres, im just a bit short on funds at the moment.
just wanted an idea on what it might be?

Adz.

Yeah, I understand all too well the problems of being "Financially Challenged", but unfortunately your query is akin to asking "How big is a ball of string", or "How big will my Alfa repair bill be", hence my previous advice.   ;)
