Title: Nuova Alfa Romeo Giulia
Post by: alfamisa on June 25, 2015, 04:37:40 PM
I'm getting in early to welcome the arrival of a new current(well almost) Alfa Romeo with the release of the Guilia QV !!! It will take a year before it's on sale in Australia but going by it's spec sheet, well worth the wait.

Thanks to the hundreds of engineers and designers, technicians etc that did this project in astonishing short time for such an important vehicle. Thanks Sergio Marchionne for your foresight.

Bravo  :) e forza Alfa Romeo

I count this as at least the third "first post!" about the Giulia. I wonder how many we can get up to?

"Getting in early"  ;D

The intent was claiming it in the "current Alfa register"... now you have to admit that is getting in early :P  :D

Ba ha ha ... love it. how long has the 159 been out of production again?

BTW: I like the new Giulia, even if it doesn't look like a taxi.

Have to say the more we see of it the more I like what we see.  Especially what looks like a manual gear stick in some of the shots....I hope that's not just a trick  ;D

Hey Al,  I can't remember if it was you or Crumpy who said that you'll get another Alfa when they make them rear wheel drive and manual shift with clutch pedal.  It's only taken 20+ years!  So here you go!   ;D ;D

I have to say Victor it's tempting. Let's see what price they hit the road at here. The M3 starts at $62k (say $80k with on roads and some options) so it'll have to be around the same.

You had me there until I realised you are talking USA...here they start from $156K + on road.

Anyway the only pic I found of the interior (which isn't yet on display as these are preproduction examples).

What is the VIN prefix of the Giulia?  Does it warrant a new folder................

The series is 952 but that isn't what warrants a new folder, it is (or will be) a current model as such it fits into other current models that don't share series codes either i.e. 4C is 960, Giulietta is 940 and Mito is 955.

Current folder is for currently in production models. Hope that helps :)

Thoroughly enjoyed Damon's presentation last night at the AROCA Vic club night, the subject being his recent trip to the launch of the Giulia and the re-opened museum.

I did note that in one of Damon's videos taken on the night of the launch, the car on the stage was started and revved up.  That put an end to my speculation that the car was just a mock up for the launch (although obviously it may still be well short of production-ready).

I've particularly enjoyed the video here on the alfaromeo.com site:  http://www.alfaromeo.com/com/alfaromeosoul

A nice hat-tip to the fabulous history of the marque.

This video is superb, I love the way they are linking to the competition history of the marque:

https://www.facebook.com/AlfaRomeoHistory/videos/649584498474381/

Hit the HD button and make it full screen.  I like the steering wheel detail, and the monochrome use of the emblem as Damon showed us on Wednesday night.

A loooonnngggg way from production ready, or even demo worthy. The 'video' released showing it 'driving' appears to benefit from a healthy dose of CGI......

True?  BMW-ish rear?

To compete against M3 and RS4.

Looks like a 1-series that's been puffed up.  Great course car for the 10-hr though!

It's been test driving in private for a long time, here it's exposed to the public...no CGI need apply :)
