Title: Can you identfy this engine?
Post by: adrigen on March 31, 2015, 02:09:22 PM
Hi,

My father passed away last year and I have the task of finding homes for his collection of alfas.
One of them is this 88 Sprint: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/tighes-hill/cars-vans-utes/1988-alfa-romeo-sprint-coupe/1065814524

Dad had a spare engine that he planned on putting into it which I remember him describing as a 2L, 16 valve fuel injected. I have been getting a lot of questions about it, which I cant really answer. Can you take a look and tell me what you think it is and what its from?

Is it a stock 2L or is it likely to have been bored out? Can I tell? Would he have referred to a 1.7 as a 2L (rounding up?!).

Big thanks in advance.

Looks like it is a 1.7 16 valve boxer fuel injected motor out of a 1990-1992 Alfa 33, Colin.
