Title: Historic Winton '08
Post by: alfagtv58 on May 13, 2008, 04:40:39 PM
Historic Winton is not too far away, in fact it's on the same weekend as the Sandown Sprint (24th/25th May).

This year due to Group S being oversubscribed the Austin 7 club has decided to split into one group of Sa/Sb and have put Sc in with the M, O and Q Sports cars.

AROCA will be represented by Vic member Tony Prowse's 105 in Sb, and Sc represented by Tony Karanfilovski (NSW) in his recently completed Alfetta (quick car too!).

I have decided to withdraw due to being grouped in with M, O and Q AND having a handicap race, there is bound to be trouble.....

Poor decision by Austin 7 car club.

Change of heart/mind.  My entry still stands.  After much consultation with organisers and competitors, they have decided to change the handicap race to a scratch race.  It seems that most Sc competitors were keen to see the handicap race ditched in favour of a scratch race.

Tony K from NSW put in a good effort at his first visit to the Winton track. He came away with fastest GpS time overall with a 1:09.18. in his '79 GTV.

Historic Winton Group S Results - http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?25/05/2008.WINT

Not a great Alfa presence with only 2 Group S Alfa's competing.

Note: Group S was split into two:

Group S - Sa and Sb - (the 105 of Tony Prowse)

M O Q R Sports and Sc - Sc (the Alfetta of Tony Karanfilovski NSW)
