Title: Phillip Island Historics 7-9 March
Post by: Neil Choi on March 07, 2014, 06:13:42 PM
It is with pleasure to point out the following Victorian AROCA members are competing at the event.

Dominique Chaleyer in her Alfa Giulia Sprint, No. 99 Group Sb

Richard East in his Alfa 105 GTV, No. 10 Regularity 2

Paul Chaleyer in his Giulietta 750, No. 29 Regularity 1

Unfortunately, Group Sc is dropped from the 2014 event.

Racing in Group C is Bill Magoffin from NSW in his Alfa 105 GTV

Excellent! Can't wait to see them out there.

One of the best weekends on the calendar for motorsport.

Congratulations to all the Alfa competitors who ran at the Phillip Island Classic.
Of special interest was Paul Chaleyer  (Guilietta spider) who won his class in regularity and also Rob Burns (2000 105GTV)who won the 2000cc GpNc Touring cars class, posting a time of 1-55.8sec in race 4,(complete with 20 year old distributor and coil borrowed from Marie's Alfetta sedan on Sunday morning.....!) This was Rob's first race event outing with the car and it should be quite a competitive package with a bit more ongoing sorting.
Also of note was UK visitor Roz Shaws Gtam replica, looking resplendent in orange/yellow Jagermeister color scheme. It certainly is reminiscent of the original Rainer Maschke 1300 GTA that raced in Germany in 1972/73 period in those colors. Roz is great to talk to and will be a visitor at the monthly meeting the coming Wednesday.
Also first time out for Dale Ashby in his Montreal ( just cruising, bedding in new engine etc.) which is destined for Gps racing, and should be interesting to follow future progress.
Cheers,
Vin Sharp
