There seems to be a few road - track tyres on the market, any suggestions for an entry level tyre to supersprint racing?
Fitting to a 2.5 Alfetta GTV.

Tyres I have been looking at
1. Falken Azenis RT615K, actually have these fitted at the moment.
2. Federal 595 RSR
3. HANKOOK VENTUS R-S3
4. Nitto NT01
5. KUMHO KU36
then there's Toyo and Yoko and Achillies... list goes on.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I do a bit of sprinting in an Twin Spark Alfetta GTV. If its your first couple of times on the track I would advise just approaching it with a good set of road tyres and making sure everything else on the car is OK.
If it turns out to be something you want to keep doing ( I bet it will be) you ought to consider 2 sets of wheels and tyres. No point in ruining really good road tyres on the track. A good option would be to get a set of teledials off a 156 for not much money and put on a set of Nitto NT01's , haven't seen any Alfa guys using them yet , but some of the front running MX5's we go sprinting with are using them and the reports have been good.
Depends how serious you get but most sprinters would be budgeting on going through a set of tyres every 12 - 18 months or so.

I bought a track/road car that came 2 sets of TI wheels.
One set with road tyres being Falken Azenis RT615K 205/40/17 and the other Hankook Ventus slicks 215/45/17 which are worn.
The Falkens are half worn but are too low a profile for my liking, the ride is out of control harsh! I bolted on the 215/45's today and the car felt much better. So I'm thinking I'll replace the 205/40's with 215/45's for daily driving and the occasional track day and when/if I get addicted I'll go to the trouble of using the slicks. The treadwear rating on the NT01's is 100 so I should be able to squeeze 18 months out of them.
