Title: GoldFields Chapter Sunday Run to Ballarat 5 May 2013
Post by: shane wescott on April 22, 2013, 10:08:44 PM
Please find below details of our next Kick Ass Sunday EMR. 5th May 2013

Goldfields Chapter

Sunday Run to Ballarat on 5th May 2013.

Includes Dealer Visit, Club Display and Goldfields Meeting.

Due to popular demand, The Club has organized another Sunday Run (previously referred to as an EMR) from Melbourne through the South Western region through to Ballarat.

Shane Wescott (116 Series Register Captain) is planning a great drive with a convenient start point ending at a local Ballarat Alfa Romeo Dealer.  We will have a showroom visit and BBQ with local chapter members followed by a short meeting for local members and those interested.

Start Time:         8.30 am for 9.00 am departure. PLEASE BE ON TIME, OR ARRIVE EARLY FOR CHIT CHAT TIME.

Where:       Maranello PurSang Motors
         33 Colebrook Street
         Brunswick, 3056.

Melways Ref:   29 G5

This will be an easy cruise from Brunswick, through some hills and dales, over bridges and between trees.

There are two options for regional members to join in:

1.   We will hit the Carlsruhe BP Petrol Station on Cob and Co Road around 10:30m. From there we will have some lovely winding country roads, or
2.   Around 11:15 at The Royal Hotel Daylesford, 27 Vincent Street. From here we will have a leisurely drive down the highway to our destination with only some minor detours.

So pick your meeting point with us. If you can make the Carlsruhe point I promise you a great drive, if you meet us in Daylesford I promise you some great company 

We will then continue to our destination Peter Stevens Motorworld,  615 Creswick Road, Ballarat. The Club will have a vehicle display, showroom tour followed by a BBQ lunch. We are aiming to get to our destination around 12:00pm

Members of the Club who live in Macedon and Goldfields region are most welcome to attend as this drive is in support of the local regional chapter members. A brief meeting will be held after lunch to welcome local members and supporters.

New members with any Alfa Romeo re encouraged to attend.   For club members and friends with vintage and historic vehicles, we suggest an earlier departure at so we can all meet up at the same time for morning tea.  Route instructions will be provided at the start.

Please confirm your booking for catering purposes:

Otherwise it will be the Rav 4 or -if it's a nice day might be the Ducati :-)

In any case doing a test run tomorrow - this drive is gunna be fun .

Let me know if you are attending numbers are growing so that always mean a great day with great cars :-)

G'day guys,

I am flying out of Melbourne Sunday afternoon otherwise I would love to dust of the GTV6 for a run.
Is there a crew coming from Bendigo that I could link up with from the North?

Top run held today.  When we got up this morning in Maldon it was 0.6 celsius, and by the time we departed at 9am the temperature had soared to 3.3 degrees!  But by the time we met up at with the group at Carlsruhe it was warm in the sun and very pleasant driving.  After a nice BBQ lunch put on by Peter Stevens Motorworld, we went down to Lake Wendouree and had a ride on the historic tram (trams are about Jack's favourite thing!).  Will have to head back to Ballarat some time soon with enough time to properly check out the tram museum.

Thanks heaps to Shane and other organisers, and to the chaps at Peter Stevens Motorworld for putting on lunch.

An aside... as Jack and I wandered around the yard looking at the Hyundai, Fiat, and Alfa models on display I was overcome with the urge to poke out my eyes at the sight of the current model Fiat 'Freemont' (http://www.fiat.com.au/freemont).  Worst bit of badge engineering I've seen in years, IMO an insult to the Fiat brand.  I assume they sell very well  :-\

Shane, thanks for organising such a great run. The roads were terrific and the lunch was great. It was good to see so many Alfas there. Can't wait for the next one.

We left from Maranello Pursang Motors, it was a bit nippy, and went for a drive through some great roads to Daylesford where we met up with some of the goldfields chapter, a cup of coffee and then onto Peter Stevens Motorworld at Ballarat, where they put on a barbeque for us, and we had a speech by the commitee about what the club was about with all the passion for Alfa Romeo, i am sure they don't get the same level of passion with those Korean brands, then a group photo of around about 50 members, you are right Evan, worst bit of badge engineering since the British Motor Corporation, but the Fiat Fairmont or whatever they call it, well they are the type of cars that sell these days, wish i had known about the tram running today, would have gone there myself, instead of the Ballarat Showgrounds accross the road, always next time for a Sunday run to a Ballarat Tram ride, Thank you to Shane and Kerry fo organising such a great day, look forward to the next one, Colin.

Thanks to all who assisted in this club event.

Shane - It was great to see who we could incorporate an EMR for Melbourne folk across to meet up with the Goldfields Chapter.  Great run.

Peter - Local promotion in the Bendigo Advertiser and Ballarat Courier really added to the day.  We had quite a few visitors who came along to check out our club display at the dealer.

Andrew and Barry - In addition we had about 6 new member enquiries and a strong commitment to the Goldfields Chapter to have a local meeting and determine what activities will be held over the next 6 months.

Peter Stephen's - We now have support from Peter Stephen's Motorworld who kindly held a BBQ lunch for our benefit and made their board room available for the Goldfields meeting.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments Guys.

Always glad to setup a run and especially seeing so many fantastic cars come out. My Prado had to work hard to stay in front, next run I will definitely have the GTV6 up and running :-(

Awesome to see the support from the dealer, I see good things coming forward for the promotion of the Alfa Romeo brand :-)

Glad you guys enjoyed the roads, I found a couple of nice ones on the way back to Bendigo - so future run maybe :-)

Once again thanks for joining in and i look forward to the next event :-)

Catch ya

Shane, Thoroughly enjoyed the run (except for the suspension testing dip after Glenlyon which I had been through on a previous occasion but forgot about on Sunday), the scenery, the company and the BBQ lunch at the Dealers. Well done Shane.
I can recommend a visit to the Chocolate Mill just outside Daylesford. Paid a visit on my way home and did some severe damage to my good intentions to avoid chocolate for a while.

Anyone up for a mid winter run to Daylesford to check out the Sunday Market, lunch at the pub and then a visit to the Chocolate Mill down the road?

Barry

We'd be up for that Barry, if it's a weekend we're out there we'd pop down for a look.

QuoteDaylesford to check out the Sunday Market, lunch at the pub and then a visit to the Chocolate Mill down the road?

Great idea, just let the committee know in advance so we can put it in the calendar if we have a spare spot.

Also some of the Goldfields members may want to attend and they may not have internet access so we need to get in in the master event calendar to flow to the magazine.
