It was a sad day...

This is what happens when a dark commonwhore ute with no headlights fails to give way at speed on a country road. Thankfully all occupants were ok. I'm actually quite impressed the cockpit has survived so well for a 30+ year old Alfa. Also, I had new seat belts installed along with newer seats without which the outcome could very well have been different.

Oh, Julian, it is terrible.  So sorry to see.  Tragic.

Geez Julian, really glad that everyone is ok, but that is a real shame. I hope the other guy was insured, though it will be tough to replace such a beautiful GTV. All the best mate.

Everyone OK is what is most important. It's just a car, it can be replaced. A person cannot.

Please don't tell me that's the latest one - as in Grace Park era red one?

Pretty disappointing.

Yes, the very one.

I have just got the wreck back and will begin to strip anything of use off. Thankfully many of the upgraded parts should be salvageable i.e. TS engine, TS transaxle, 28mm T bars (I'm hoping they will spring back straight when I release them from the twisted wreck), three of the four Bilstein's, all the rear end which had been fully rebuilt (new rubbers, hoses, brake discs and pads, wheel bearings etc), three of the four Ronals have survived as has 3 of 4 brand new RE003's, most of the interior except the heater vent that my knee went through and radio surround.

Sadly, basically all the body and plastic trim is damaged, even on the non impact side. The roof has buckled due to the force. The passenger door appears to have survived, most glass and both mirrors. I will also try and salvage all the electrical upgrades and improvements I had made all with the goal of building another, even better one!

I presume all the sound deadening is not salvageable.

Thanks for the support all.

That's the spirit, straight back on the horse! Best of luck, hope you find a suitable host car soon.

Not good.... Impressive like you said how the car stacked up.

If you still have my number in the phone, give me a call. I know of where's there is a good base to start the new project from.... It got offered to me two days ago.

Bang on!

I've just started pulling apart the wreck and amazed at some of the way the car has crumbled. The spare wheel has worked as a type of shock absorber in the boot area (although is wedged in now and will need to be cut out). The floor underneath has buckled quite extensively. The roof has a little but the floor quite a bit.

I will post pics once I have something to show.

Happy to hear no one was seriously hurt.  BUT a very sad way to total what seems to have been a beautifully kept gtv!   In fact, if you don't mind me saying, its one of the best looking car wrecks I've seen for a long time!... with all due respect!
