How much does it cost? Well Group S is probably one of the cheapest forms of racing available. The following provides a run down on the typical costs for running in Group S including up front costs and the costs for a typical season.
Typical Costs
The costs of competing can be broken down into: the car, racegear, licence and per round costs as follows, remembering that this is a rough guide only to provide indicative costs - some will spend a lot more - some a lot less:

Build or Buy - a good COMPETITIVE (capable of winning the class) car will cost somewhere in the range of $15k to $20k.
An eligible car would start from as little as $5000 depending on the level of modification.

I haven’t included garage or marquee accom at the track as this is optional – they usually cost around $150 per event. Entry typically includes 4 or 5 entry tickets for you and your crew.
You could also budget an engine rebuild every 5 seasons and a set of rotors every 2 years.
So for around $6000 a year you could have a full year of close racing at the premier Historic meetings in Australia - bargain!
