If only I had the spare time, the 2600 is a great car.

One is for sale at  Brooklands for 28k . I too would love to build a complete one but as so keenly observed it is one two many a project . Shame to let these cars go . It would fit into the pre 65' Peking to Paris class which would be a good fit for it . JJ.

you get 3 x 2600's for that price on this auction and he has the engine for sale separately.

Worth more than $2000 if parted that's for sure.

I'll go you halves but where are we gonna store em?

Sad to not have that magic pot of cash and that big spare warehouse Undecided

OK guys, here's the full story. I saw it on ebay while I was in the UK over christmas. In a moment of madness or boredom or something, I put an auto bid of $2000 on it. The previous bidders auto limit was obviously just under this, because the bidding immediately went to $2,000 with me as the high bidder.

Then I get back to Australia and I'm still the high bidder, but having doubts about whether I'm man enough for such a restoration. So, yesterday I was trying to flush out additional bidders. Alas to no avail and I now own an Alfa 2600 sprint. I'll go and get it next week and we'll see what I really bought. I think Alfesta 2010 might be the target finish date.

I'm hoping that Ross Holders off hand comment that I'll spend $70k restoring a $30k car doesn't prove correct.

Well done Doug,
firstly for saving it and then for taking on the project. If it is half decent and can just be put back together then it'll be the bargain of 08.
Then you can aim for 2010 to win the Concours trophy @ Spettacolo.

Are you going to take the spare red body and the engine too?

Mr Gould what have you done ! Very brave man . It seems like a lot of gear . I think Bowral is just of the hume so could be low priority back frieghted ? Looks like two trips or two cars going up . Any how if I can be of any assistence then holla . I am interested to have a look and could possibly be talked into a 2600 project . Regards JJ .

Branko

Why didn't you bid & get me off the hook?
My wife is out today arranging a new shed to be built at home.
I need a tandem to tow up to Bowral to get it. Given the distance, I'm anxious about a hire one. Anyone have a good one I can borrow for a slab or two?

Valid concern there regarding the hire trailer. I had one for the last Phillip Island and on the way back a tyre blew at about 100km/hr ... very scary when the retread seperated and was used to brake the remaining wheel. As the trailer started swinging like the pendalum of grandfather clock a change of underwear was required after it was brought under some level of control.
