Is this only for Group S punters or can blokes who prefer VB and sausages (Group N) join in?

Welcome Bill, group N punters are always welcome, regardless of what people are saying about the riff raff Group N produce Wink

So if the Group N boys prefer VB and sausages....what is it Group S partake in, Apertiffs and Sauvignon Blanc?

I think us Alfa steerers are collectively the Chardonnay Racers, but you would have to ask Paul, he was the one who dubbed me a lover of beer and snags!

I know that Bill loves a beer and a snag. But he also likes quaffing Chardonnay, like he did to excess at Sandown back in 2003. He usually races better when he's had a skinful of Chardy too, hey Bill...  Grin

As long as Bill races an Alfa in Group N then we will hold off on the beer and snags references. If he starts racing a Capri, or dare we say a Mustang then it's Game On  Angry

Totally off-topic... would the VRA like a dedicated board on this forum?  We share a lot of members.

Your current yahoo mailing list works good so no reason to change unless you want to, just let me know if you'd like one.

cheers,
Lefty.

Evan-no need for separate VRA board here they serve different purposes and this area highlights what us VRA racers have in common with other club members..

Scott, you know you should not be parting with that car don't you?

Hi,

If you'll take people that eat sausages and VB how about people who don't know what they want to eat?

I bought a ratty old 105 just over a year ago and soon realised I was in over my head.  Then I took it to a super sprint and despite going either slow or backwards I was hooked.  Now the suspension is decent I'm starting to drive it instead of just hanging on but the engine is old and tired.  Hopefully it might be log booked as group Sb by the end of the year, but it will stay road registered as well.

But....  I've heard about you group "S" for Sycho drivers and after seeing Phil's car (and hearing of Spencer's rocket being shunted) I'm not sure I want to take the plunge (or if after just one year I could even get close to you guys).  I might try a FoSC regularity next year just to see how it all goes.

I've also heard the comptetion CAMS license is pretty tough to keep (I only have 2S) and you can't just do a meeting or two but need to do a lot of races to first get off your P's and then to keep it.  I can't find the details on the CAMS web site.

Is there an easy (and cheaper) way to get the feel for a race meeting without going through the bump and grind?

Bill, Is there any truth to the rumour that VRA is holding an open day at Wakefield early next year, I haven't heard anything official from the VRA group?  I think that would be a great day and I would book in.

Andrew,

Good to hear you have the bug...CAMS licence is not as hard as it can be made out. Just get involved and go with the flow, it will all come together even though it seems a little daunting at first. There are plenty of blokes who have been around a while that can give you a hand.

Yes, VRA Drive day is at Wakefield Friday February 15, message went out to the VRA list on Oct 12 with 2008 dates and details..

Bill,

I double checked my mail and there were a couple I missed reading and that was one of them.  I now have it in my diary and I'll be there on the 15th.

Thanks

Andrew
