Further to the publication of results from DECA - I don't know if Anthony is going to publish the spreadsheet, but here is a summary:

2   Victor   Lee   159   E    267.48

10   Torben   Fink-Jensen   GTV 6 3.0   D    282.53
900   Brad   Marshall   Sud Sprint   D    283.89
818   Andrew   Edmonson   Audi   E    284.21

112   Chris   Carra   Lotus/Ute   A/B    410.43
69   Robin   Doherty   Porsche 996   E    414.91
4   Phil   Baskett   75   A    573.11
- Note the bottom 3 had car issues
- Fastest time was ALWAYS by a AWD car - except once when Allan Goodall was fastest in his Alfetta GTV

I think looking down at the list, Allan put in the best performance on the day. What do others think?

What I want to ask is:

I was fastest in Group D - I think this was because I strategically attempted to win rather than because I had the best car or was fastest driver...but I would be interested in feedback over whether you would expect my stock 2001 GTV 3.0 6spd to be faster than 2 race-ready Sprints, and 2 drivers driving a race-ready 33.

My car had most powerful engine, good low-down pull (the others all had peaky engines), plus a 20 year newer chassis. The others had race rubber, modified engines, wheels, suspension.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Torben

You've got a modern car with twice the engine capacity and ABS, etc.

Pretty good job though

Good question.

Your low-down torque I think would make a huge difference in low-speed tests, and your big power would be an advantage on the longer ones.  Do the race cars have hand-brakes I wonder?  Obviously they would/should be far more nimble, I'm actually surprised you beat them.  Well done.

I bet you can't beat them around Sandown though!  Come on, let's see the impressive power of the GTV out there.  I'm wagering you'll still get beaten by the annoying little front-wheel-drives though.  Happy to be proven wrong!

Actually, you'll be in standard over 2 litre I take it?  Yeah, maybe you shouldn't come to sandown.........

Torben,
I think it is down to pure skill of driver that kept the boxer brigade at bay. Just be on your toes though, just over a second is not much breathing room.
