Thought I'd try and give this sud forum a boot in the arse.

An ad for a NZ racesud.  Seems expensive.  As an idea I once did a 1.29 at Manfield (this one has done a 1.19) in my dad's standard 1980 Porsche 928S in my first go at driving on the track (but I knew the track well from racing my bike there).

Alfasud ti race car, $30,000 2006-7 Trofeo series GTA class (open class) Champion. This is a very quick and reliable race car with fantastic balance/handling and very good power to weight, Extensive homologated cage and light weight seam welded chassis.
Lyn Rogers Motorsport engineered 1.7 16v boxer engine (with ‘very’ special heads) 48mm carbs, custom forged pistons and extensive block & crank work to ensure reliability, i.e. 198hp at only 7,400rpm. pukekohe; 1:09/ manfield; 1:19/ taupo1; 1:46/ taupo2; 1:17.
cold air box / oil cooler. 4.1 final drive, close ratio box. Light weight billet fly wheel. Kevlar/ceramic paddle clutch. Stainless fuel cell. Holley pump & regulator. Lexan polycarb windows (except front screen). Carbon fiber light weight bonnet. Under tray. Wilwood brakes all round with twin masters, balance bar, remote adjuster & inline bias. Coil over adjustable platforms & koni’s. 5.5kg Odyssey gellcell battery. Sparco FIA harness (exp.2011). There is still plenty of development that could be done if you want to go faster. This car would cost easily 3 times what I’m asking which is $30,000, if you built it from scratch. You can look up You-Tube to see it in action (search word “sud16v”). Also available as an extra is my purpose made light weight car trailer, max width only 2.120mm, braked, single axle (easy to handle and tow’s like a dream) $3,000 ono. Serious interested parties only please contact Eddie 0274-974260 or eddielisab@xtra.co.nz Updated 1 Mar 2008

Just what til Scott sees this.. the jokes about Suds will flow.

Seriously, though, 198hp wouldnt be cheap to replicate. I don't think it's toooo unreasonable, but it might be hard to find a buyer for.

Now you know what I dream about at night time, then it turns into a nghtmare and I wake up in a cold sweat when realise I cant pay the loan off.

From my point of view its good to see someone puttng so much effort into a sud, cant wait until someone turns up up to our sprint meetings with something similar and shows those "rear wheel drive dinosaurs" the way around the track!!

Yes, I know, I might be waiting a while.

Nice find Sheldon.

G'day Fast Eddie, How r ya?

Thanks man, I'm trying as hard as I can. I do have in my possesion a 1700 16V which will eventually go in my car, with cost being the main factor at the moment. The other problem is that it will be so fast that the rest of my car will fly apart. I have to get some of that race tape they use in V8 Supercars, you know the stuff thats a foot wide. They probably dont make it in green though.

Go Team Trofeo Alfasud.

Hey Frank,

If your pulling sub 2 min round the island in the green machine now I hate to think the result with the 1700 16V 33 donk strapped to the sprint, Neal Bates driving a TRD 241 kw supercharged Aurion did PI in the same time as you and it took 12 secs longer in a standard car.

241 Killer wasps,

Thats a prettygood advertisment for Alfasuds. Somehow I dont think Neil Bates would beleive what my car does if he saw it. Really, I dont beleive it either and I'm driving it!

Thanks Pep       Suds Rule

 Cry

That's a sad end to a very very very fast Sud.  I loved the in-car footage from that Sud.  Glad they are okay - although surely very sore.
