....I get a lot of reading and not much replying.
I am after advice on what to look for when buying an Alfa 147 Selespeed. I need to purchase an auto as my wife can only drive one. I have found some stuff on the net, but it is all overseas based and so far reports not too glowing of the Selespeed. I was after some advise from owners of this car in Australia and only had one reply from my posting of "Feedback/Advice on 2003 ALFA ROMEO 147 Selespeed Twin Spark"
in the General Discussion & Technical - Current models discussion forums.

I just thought there would be no better place to go than here to ask for some advice. Any infor would be really appreciated.  Smiley

Thanks

Andrew

Andrew

Not sure if you saw my reply because you posted twice one in General Discussion and again in Current Model and my response is in the current model, rather long and detailed response on 147 ownership

Cheers

Ohh good hoped it helped. Just another small point it seems theres not a lot of 147 owners on this forum or so it seems but more 156 guys, theres some interesting discussions/feedback on Selespeed experience from them.

Have a look at a few of the 156 threads re selespeed gearbox reliability.  I believe that the updated models 2002/2003 have an improved selespeed box.

Make sure you get the car checked out by an Alfa Specialist.  Check out our sponsors page and someone like Zagames or Lance Dixon can put the car on the alfa analyser. For a pre purchase inspection you can find out the true condition of the car.  I am a firm believer that this is a small price to pay, sort of insurance even if you do not buy the first car checked out.  Checking out the servicing history of the car is also relavent.

At the end of the day, if you buy a 147 with an updated seleseed or a car that has been well maintained, repaired etc, than you are on a winner.

Cheers.

Thankyou very much John. The car is a 2004 model so hopefully that will mean the upgrade.

Thanks again!
