Sorry for double posting in QLD forum. I was supposed to post here instead.

Hi there, a while ago I asked the question of upgrading my electronic ignition in my 1750GTV

http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,68/topic,1236.0/

I received some great advice. However my new mechanic has suggested rather than heading down the after market path, getting a Marelli distributor and coil out of say a Alfa33 or Alfetta and converting it to suit would be much more reliable, be cheaper and last longer. Has anybody had any experience with this? I'm not that tech savvy, so any help would be great.

Thanks,

Lucas.

Hi Lucas,

My 105 has a bosch electronic ignition and looks like its out of a late model alfetta (appears to be the same as the one in my 82 GTV). In 5 years never had a problem and it runs great no issues. The GTV before that in 6 years only changed one ignition module, overall a very reliable and cost effetive solution.
Cheers

I have that same set up (late Alfetta E.I) sitting here waiting for funds to install into my Alfetta GTV.
