Hi all,
About 6 months ago whilst waiting at the lights a beta up old Alfa 105 pulled up next to me. I think it was grey. I thought a couple of chickens might have been roosting in it when it was not being driven. Anyway I sat in my car looking at the lights and decided I had to have one. If I could have got out and walked around it I would have. I reckon their style is timeless, feline and pure Alfa.

So I did some research, found out what it was and went on the hunt and after a couple of false starts and chickening out I've finally found and bought one!

Its a 1974 2000 GTV with matching numbers. Not concours but no rust, slightly worked motor, good interior in red.

So now I can show up at club meetings Wink

Can anyone recommend a good Melbourne Alfa mechanic that I can have a long term allegiance to? I need to get a RWC initially as the car is from interstate.

Clive,

Not to discourage you for getting in touch with one of our alfa specialist mechanics (check out our sponsors page). I notice it has WA plates on still, if it is still registered and in your name you don't need the RWC to transfer the registration to Vic. I just went through the same situation a couple of months back, Vic Roads only needed to inspect the numbers (WA had missed one digit for the chassis number).

Clive i am in the last stages of a complete and very long total restoration of a 72 GTV 2000 . Just a door seal and a RWC remain to be done ! As Brad said the advertizers on this site and in the AROCA magazine are all good . If you want to chat and ask other questions just fire away as collectivley a huge reservour of knowledge exists in the club . Welcome to the 105 band and hopefully the club when you get round to it . Regards JJ .

Thanks guys. Interesting news about the WA transfer options. Vicroads reckoned it needed a RWC but perhaps that was if it was unregistered. I'll check again but that would be much easier.

Thanks Justin for the encouragement. I'll certainly need it I'm sure.

Total restoration!! - how long have you been working on it? Can I give you a ring to talk about repairers.

Nice 105, Clive!

Regarding Road Worthy, and to confirm what Brad said, we brought a Land Rover over from W.A recently, and since it was already registered the transfer involved no RWC.

Also, I highly recommend Monza Motors in Bayswater for all your Alfa needs (not to detract from the other club sponsors, I'm sure they're all great.)

G'Day Clive,

As a fellow newcomer, I looked around the club website and asked some advice.  We are very lucky in Melbourne to have a number of reputable Alfa specialists.  My car is looked after by Bruno at Maranello Motors in Brunswick.  He has intimate knowledge of the 105's- if only I could get him to write it all down!  He doesn't overcharge and is full of advice, particularly for Alfa Club Vic. members!

Regards

Well done Clive!  Looks great.  My copy of Tipler's book arrived today - at least I can read about them.
