1  Technical / 900 Series (Alfasud, Alfasud Sprint, 33) / Fuel Pressure Regulator on: November 23, 2008, 02:43:16 PM
Am just wodering what sort of fuel pressure regulator i need to run my sud motor which has twin 44's

Fuel is being delivered by a facet red top comp fuel pump.

I will need a regulator though so what do you recommend?

Could it be crap in your brakes?, Mine have done similar stuff before and squealed when brake are not on

Yeah i find that golden lodges are good but they don't seem to work that well around town.

As for getting out the spark plugs i have some words of advice.

The original tool isn't bad but i find it difficult still on number 2 and 6.

I find the traditional spark plug socket and extensions is the way to go.

BUT!!!

be warned some supposed good brands will have difficulty.

I have a sidchrome set of sockets and the walls of the spark plug sockey are too thick to fit down the whole.

I went into a tool shop with a set of veniers and the staff there thought i was a nutter and ended up buying a craftsman aircraft one and now I also have a snap-on one which works fine.

How i do my plugs.

1 drop socket into tube, attach 1 x3" extension
2 attach 1 wobbly 3" exntension
3 attach uni joint
4 attach long extension (i use a 15" one)
then ratchet them out.

I have a spark plug change now down to less that 10 minutes.
It sounds hard but its easy and it doesn't kill my back (am 6'2" tall so this is why i use the long extension)

Hope this cna be some help

Is the bendigo place ok as most people in sydney aren't interested unless you buy a box worth

Yeah i ended up getting a box through work but i didn't really want to do it.

Does anybody need any? they are the 50mm ones from 33 cv's not the 60mm ones from the sud.
7  Technical / 900 Series (Alfasud, Alfasud Sprint, 33) / Re: Cv bolts on: September 25, 2008, 10:24:35 AM
Thanks for your help Jim but the truth is no it isn't.

I did half of a fitting and turning apprenticeship and i know heaps of bolt places and they can get them but the don't want much to do with any less than say 150 of them.

I will never buy bolts from a hardware store unless it is for something like making a bench in the gargage but fastener people can be just as dodgey (oh yes i work for one of them too) and i too can buy them through work but not in small quantities.

That i find is a prob with Alfas they love their fine threads but anything m8 fine tends to be problematic
8  Technical / 900 Series (Alfasud, Alfasud Sprint, 33) / Cv bolts on: September 24, 2008, 10:33:14 PM
Does anyone know an establishment where i can buy new cv bolts (socket head cap screws) for my sud ... (well 33 ones as my sud has outboard brakes)

They are m8 x 50mm with a 1.0 thread pitch and it is the latter is what is causing the problem.

I can buy them but i have to buy 100 of them and i feel that as i only need 12 maybe another 12 for my other sud.

A: Has anyone bought any, if so where from?

B: does anyone else need any that being the case i will buy 100 and sell them off to you
9  Technical / 900 Series (Alfasud, Alfasud Sprint, 33) / Re: alfa 33 engine transplant on: September 24, 2008, 10:28:25 PM
Short answer yes but not that simple ... you will need the fuel pumps and injection loom ... this may require the ie fuel tank

11  General Category / Buy/Swap/Sell / Re: WTB: Sud/ 33 Gearbox on: July 25, 2008, 04:25:56 PM
Honestly if you're happy with the ratios ... repair the one you have!

Hi Jimmy

I will post you photos tomorrow .. they are probably interchangable
13  General Category / Buy/Swap/Sell / Door Hinges for 75 (NSF) on: July 19, 2008, 04:56:09 PM
Was wanting to buy a set of hinges for a 75 as the pin seems to have worn quite badly on the passenger's door.

Interestingly enough the drivers door is fine .... go figure.

I would prefer red (which red shouldn't really matter as its in the door cavity) but would take any colour if the price was right.

Even if condition is not mickey mouse i would be interested as i could re-pin them just need something to hold the door on while it gets done so i don't look like Jeremy Clarkson in his Rover SD1.

Let me know if anybody has wrecked a 75 and is lookin to off load parts.

Cheers

Matt

What do you guys actually do as far as brakes in the 75 ... mine is stock 2.5l but some minor tweaks + exhaust but have 28mm torsion bars, 220lb springs all polyurethane bushed and TS gearbox with a shimmed up diff.

The problem is it doesn't really stop ... Brakes need to be done!

BTW the 3.0 75 with LSD is a far taller ratio than the 2.5 .... i changed to the TS box and there was little or no difference to the gearing as far as highway driving. Yes first is taller and there is less gap 2nd through to 5th but i think that i cruise at 110 about 100rpm lower than with the original box.... that's it.

You can fit a automatic 75 diff the the 2.5 litre box to get an LSD but the gearing gaps are frustrating whereas this is not an issue with the TS box.

My advice... TS box is the easy option.

A bloke i know did a 24v in a 75 and he ditched the standard box in favour of a TS box ...

If i had the money i would go the 24v ... however there is supercharger kits available from the US ... this could be an interesting option as you could land one for the 12v engine for about 4.5 to 5 k plus fitting.

They sound well researched and comprehensive but may be asking for trouble.

As Scott has said the 24v is a nice flexible option but i think you can get out of it a bit cheaper than he has suggested as there has been number of 24v engines with ecu surface in Sydney for 2.5 to 3.5.
Also ... my friend did one in a GTV6 with the fly by wire throttle .. these engines are becomming more and more popular as a result of P platers wrapping GTA's and 99 and newer GTV6's around heavy objects.

Find out how much it will/can cost to install ... that's my advice

I got the relay from my mechanic ... Automoda in Five Dock.

It was around the 200 mark
