Worse, a GM V6 90. On the plus side, it does look like a rather neat install (apart from the wiring.)

But, he's replaced the best part of a somewhat undesirable model, with one of the most boring and stodgy engines imaginable. I don't know who this will appeal to  Huh

When the same thing happened to the light stalk in my Alfetta, I (rather, an auto electrician) retrofitted a button under the dash instead. It's quite discrete, and the stalk still operates the high beam function.

Cheers guys Grin See you all there!

Sorry for the idiot question, but where exactly is Como park?

My google search proved fruitless, returning only vague/sketchy info. Is there perhaps another name for the place?

Bad luck, Mat  Sad

Ah well, sounds like it could've been a lot worse. Good luck getting the track rat sorted, and this one back on the road  Cool

What do you guys think of the 'generic' premium fuels? The ones just labeled 'premium', that don't give a RON rating.

I've been filling up at the same Ampol service station for weeks now, putting in tank after tank of 'Gold' fuel. Can't say I notice any difference between it and fuel from BP or the like.

Good to the hear. I will also be along for a strap through the hills, but not to the city.

Wow Mat, end of this year is a tight deadline to meet (it certainly would be for me anyway.)

What are your plans for the engine?

Best of luck to you!
9  General Category / Off Topic / Rob Roy Hill Climb on: June 15, 2008, 06:57:54 PM
I was at the Rob Roy Hill Climb for the first time today, (as a spectator.) The fastest time I saw was set by a heavily modified, early model Civic, at about 25 seconds. Intrigued by what makes for a really commendable time up the hill, I searched the MG club site for records, and discovered that on the 20th of October 1994, a certain Hugh Harrison ran a 22.5 in a GTV6. Cool!

10  General Category / Buy/Swap/Sell / WTB: wheel brace & dash mat on: April 06, 2008, 01:59:00 PM
As per the title, I am after an original wheel brace for an Alfetta, and also a dashboard cover to suit an Alfetta sedan (1981 if it matters.)

I'm located in Melbourne.

Thanks for looking  Smiley

Nice 105, Clive!

Regarding Road Worthy, and to confirm what Brad said, we brought a Land Rover over from W.A recently, and since it was already registered the transfer involved no RWC.

Also, I highly recommend Monza Motors in Bayswater for all your Alfa needs (not to detract from the other club sponsors, I'm sure they're all great.)

Nah, you go right ahead.

Well, unless I get there first  Grin I really see no way of me getting the cars home at the moment, so I'll hold off even inquiring until I'm sure I can sort out a car with a tow hitch + trailer. If they're gone by then, so be it.
13  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Alfetta or GTV6? on: March 25, 2008, 05:54:51 PM
I run GTV6 rims actually, but yes, I was parked a few cars up from you for a little while.

Straying further off topic for a second (sorry), who is your insurance provider for the Alfetta? I've not insured mine yet, but had a quote from the RAC, who grossly under-value the car. Shannons was recommended to me, but unfortunately they don't deal with drivers under 25.
14  General Category / Buy/Swap/Sell / Re: Berlina FS on: March 25, 2008, 05:43:08 PM
That is mighty tempting. I'll have to see if I can devise a way to haul them up from near Ballarat.

Hi Mat,

I've got nothing of value to add to this thread, other than I think I saw your car at the Phillip Island Classic. I've got an Alfetta sedan too, red one. If this is indeed your car, it looks good!

Oh yeah, pretty sure the GTV6 is a 116 series car.
