1  Technical / 105/115 Series (105 Coupe/Spider/Berlina) / Electronic Ignition...Again on: July 15, 2008, 05:29:53 PM
Sorry for double posting in QLD forum. I was supposed to post here instead.

Hi there, a while ago I asked the question of upgrading my electronic ignition in my 1750GTV

http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,68/topic,1236.0/

I received some great advice. However my new mechanic has suggested rather than heading down the after market path, getting a Marelli distributor and coil out of say a Alfa33 or Alfetta and converting it to suit would be much more reliable, be cheaper and last longer. Has anybody had any experience with this? I'm not that tech savvy, so any help would be great.

Thanks,

Lucas.

I agree, stunning colour.

Just a side note, are they the reproduction aluminum alloy Cromodora CD-35 wheels on your alfa? Where did you get them and are you happy with them? I was thinking of going with these or the momo vega's for my 1750 GTV.

Mate, looks beautiful.

I had a 1600GT Junior as my first alfa in the exact same colour. I remember seeing it for the first time when my mate bought it. I remember thinking "first thing I would do is change that crap colour". after a while I fell in love with it and hasselled him for the next 18 months to sell it to me.

That was a few years ago now and I sold the 1600 when I left melbourne and headed to Brissy. A few months ago I took the plunge and bought myself a red 1750GTV (http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,68/topic,1171.0/) and low and behold the colour underneath is Ocra Giallo!! Look out restoration here I come.

Keep the pics coming you are officially my test pilot.

Thanks Chris. I booked in with Alfamotive today. Andrew there sounded like he was keen to work on my car so I will give you a report.

Hi all,

What great weather (in Brisbane) we are having for alfa motoring at the moment! I have been driving so much that my 105 1750 GTV needs some love and care and I am yet to check out the quality of Brisbane mechanics. Can anyone offer me some advice on a good group of guys who can service and tune my car? I'm not the kind of guy who does their own work so I would like to develop a relationship with my mechanic.

Thanks guys happy driving.

Hi Alex,

They are a great car.

I was looking for 4 years on and off, ever since I regrettably sold my 1600GT Junior. But I was really seriously looking for about a month. I gave myself a strict budget of $10K to buy myself a straight honest 105 coupe. I knew that this wouldn't get me a concors car and i soon began to think that I was dreaming. Most cars seemed to be $12-$15K for a tidy example. Lucky me, I looked on this website and found mine for $9K and bargained down to $8.25K.

Good luck with the hunt, its well worth it.

Hi All,

I just thought I would post a quick message to show off my new toy. I was wondering if anyone would know of a good mechanic and auto electrician in Brisbane?

Also does anyone know what electronic ignition suits my model.

Enjoy the pics.
