or the other items you have mentioned - will do some investigation and report back

Gary thanks for these tips, makes sense in regards to the adjustment of the sender to modify when the red light comes on and adjusting the speed of movement in the gauge.

My guage is actually jumping forward and backward a bit as I drive making me think i have a dodgy earth somewhere (which i have redone at the fuel tank) or inconsistent voltage. I can put include some resistence through the violet colour fuel gage wire as you described but i dont think that will solve my problem.

I plan to get the multimeter out and check some voltages, if its jumping around a lot i may need to look at a new voltage reg and/or earthing issues.

call Danny at Patrizi motors in Carlton 02 9546 7034 (may need to speak to his dad tom) - i saw a couple complete heater boxes last time i was there.

Gary, i remebered the idea of a resistor for my fuel gauge the other day - did you have any luck finding the article regarding what sort of resistor and where to put it?

Jim, i hope you dont mind but i think it would be helpful to post the pictures of the cars we are discussing. Would be good if we can actually nail down what shells are on offer here. My thoughts are

- green car - 67 Sprint GT Veloce

- darker red car - possibly a 69' series 1, single headlight 1750 - originally white with black interior - or is it a Sprint GT

- lighter red car - 65 Sprint GT

let me know if i am wrong!

checked my receipt - dash repair & reskin cost $1300, so not as bad as i thought.

took 20 hrs labour i was told, might try and shop around a bit more next time.

Scott, thanks for the info.

For the moment the car will just be a regular driver with some new alloys, i like the look of the Yokies, which come in 195/60/R14. This would mean i should go the 6' wide rims based on your recommendation.

Would there be any potential issues if i went with a 14x7' size?

Gents, wondering if you could advise me re my setup for my GT 1.6 Jn.

Standard wheeels on the car now are 14' x 4.5' or 5'? Pretty sure i'm running 185/70/14 but cant check at the moment.

If someone could advise what is the standard setup, so i can then calc the rolling dia. difference based on a new setup with a new set of rims to run the Yoky A032's 195/60/14.

What is the best width rim to use with the A032, 14' x 6' or 14 x 7'?

thanks, Adrian

Update to this is that the people in Carlton have now sold their dashboard skinning business to Pro-Stitch in West St Carlton (02) 9547 3424

Prices basically depend on labour required to prep the dash. For a dash with all the usual issues i would expect to pay ~$1.5-2K

Chris, i reckon you just need a "have a go attitude". If it stuffs up and car doesn't start - hopefully you have an understanding mechanic, who will be able to easily fix thie issue. All you have lost is some pride but learnt more about your car.

ok found someone in Sydney (carlton) - they have a good website with a 1750 dash restore picture.

My dash is heading there this weekend, get the wallet ready though - prices start at $650

Ok all sorted. Heater tap is ok (looks pretty new actually.) and heater works - ended up gutting the interior today since i need to do headling, carpet & redo cracked dash.

Turns out I am missing a vent which goes up to the front left (pasenger side) screen demister.

Hi all, my car is one of the newer 105 coupes that came with a rear demister. However one of the metal tags that attach to the rear screen has broken away. My autoelectrician informs me he can't the cement/glue to fix it anymore...

Is this true - does anyone have some of the conductive glue/cement to do the job?

Hi guys am off work sick so forgive me posting a few too many times this week.

I have recently bought a 1600 Junior (body is good - at least for now) and am doing all the fiddly bits since i am fussy i like everything to work at it would have in 1974. One of these things is the heater.

My radiator is a little scummed (brown crap op the cap and liquid for one) up so i be flushing/cleaning it and hoping that will fix the problem. However odds are that the solution wont be that simple.

The fan works but are there any other tips from people more experienced that i should do to work out initially if water is even circulating?

Thanks Adrian.
