Grease ... lots of grease ... and a very long crowbar and you'll make em fit ... stiffens up the sidewalls nicely Cheesy

Apologies for the typo. I will check the cv joints, but I swear the noise seems to be coming from the rear. Thanks heaps for the help!

Cheers,
Ross
2  Technical / 900 Series (Alfasud, Alfasud Sprint, 33) / crunching noise from back right wheel on a 33 on: October 07, 2008, 09:58:39 PM
Hi, I have a 33 1.7ie. When I take a left turn the right rear wheel emits a crunching noise that i can feel through the steering. Sounds like when you overwind a wind up car, just a bit bigger of course.

I've replaced the wheel bearings (both inner& outer ... play on the wheel is between minimal and none) on that wheel, but the noise is still there!  Huh

The car needs an allignment, but apart from that I can't think of anything else that moves on the fixed rear axle. The wheels are original 15 inch with 195/50/R14 tyres .. pretty stock standard.

Can anyone suggest the next thing to try?

Cheers,
Ross

Thankyou Edward. I much appreciate the information. I couldn't seem to find anything definitive on the web.

I'm a total newbie. Will these fit an Alfa 33 (1.7ie)?
7  General Category / Introduce Yourself / Hi there on: February 29, 2008, 03:29:56 PM
I am totally new to Alfa and these types of forums. I recently obtained a Alfa 33 1.7 (8v), that I am hoping to get on the track at some stage, but also something that will remain (semi) road legal to some extent. Can anyone suggest the best thing to start with, i.e. what can be safely pulled out to reduce wieght, any easy perfomance modifications?

I am a total newby  Grin

The gearshifting on this car is also something of a black art. Any suggestion as to where I can get more information on fixing up the feel of the shift?

Cheers,
RossD
