I had a great day being my first time and all, you were right about all the traffic, i would say there was over 70 cars maybe over 80.
I think I did pretty good posting a 72.4 lap in my third session and a 73 in my second session. We won't discuss the first round with my car deciding that it didn't want to brake anymore on the third lap at turn 1 and i ended up in the kitty litter. Yes I know I pushed it too hard down the straight on that lap and braked 1 sec too late. Just goes to show how seconds count in racing.
My car went well, I just need to improve on the cornering. Got off the track and she was running as per normal on the road. Didn't even phase her. Gotta love an Alfa.

Thank-you to everyone who donated, Vicki managed to raise just short of $8000. She did most of the walk with me pushing her in a wheelchair, however she did walk 1km of it though. I will post some pictures soon.

Hi everyone, Four weeks ago my darling 37 yr old partner Vicki & I were planning our winter holidays. Today she is fighting to survive a grade 3-breast cancer. She has endured a mastectomy and is awaiting treatment in the next few weeks of radical chemotherapy. On Mother’s Day in sunny Qld, we will participate in an 8km walk for the fight against breast cancer only four weeks after her mastectomy. Please help support my beautiful & courageous Vicki by sponsoring her. You may visit her sponsorship page via the link. Thank you for your generosity. State Divisions / Queensland / Solvix Challenge
|
on: March 16, 2008, 09:58:11 PM
|
Greetings everyone, For those that don't know and those that do as well, the annual Solvix Challenge will be run on the 29th of March. It will start at the Brisbane Sporting Car Club (BSCC) club rooms. The challenge is approximatel 240k long, of which 2k is dirt road, and takes most of the day to navigate. There will be a stop for lunch and will end at a location with BBQ areas, of which i am told a sausage sizzle is provided. Entry Forms and regulations can be found at http://www.bscc.asn.au/. Please ensure you read and understand the regulations. There are 2 categories, the challenge category and the touring category. The Challenge Category: This category is for those that wish to solve the riddles and solve the course navigation. It also counts towards alfacomp i believe. To enter the challenge category you need a driver and navigator, of which one of you must have a cams license of at least l2ns. A day cams license is also available for purchase on the day. It costs around $45. Entry for the challenge category is $49.50 and must be paid by the 26th of March. Maps and instructions will be given to the crews 3 mins before you start the race, and cars will leave 5 mins apart and the entrants start leaving around 10am. Try to get there around 9:15 for pre-race briefings and sledgings. Route instructions for the challenge category are route chart and map reading. The Touring Category: This category is for those don't wish the stress of the race but would love a nice leisurely drive through the country. It costs $33.00 to enter and starts leaving around 11:00am. You will be given the route after the Challenge category drivers have left. You don't need a Cams license to drive this category. It will be a great day drive. If you have any questions my number can be found on the committee page of the Aroca -QLD page. Cheers Tony S.

Hi All,
I only just saw this ad and thought, I have the answer to this. I bought my 3L 98 GTV from David Noble who was the chief mechanic for Alfa Brisbane when Alfa's started returning to the country. He warned me from the get-go , don't use anything but premium as you will blow the oxygen censor in the motor. A little repair that can cost big bucks. For me i'll pay the extra and use premium. When i bought it he had a 156 in getting the oxygen sensor replaced because someone used standard unleaded. I was told and i don't know if he was trying to scare me, but it was $1000 for the repair.
Cheers

Hi All,
Well the committee has put it's heads together and come up with something other than dandruff, the event calendar for 2008. It has been finalised and has been sent to the webmaster so should be up on the site sometime this week.
I think it's a good calendar, i hope you'll like it.
cheers
Tony
