The rest of you can get stuffed.  If a 105 ever beats Robin's 90 I'll paint one on the side of my car.

That was the quote I think you are thinking of?  Unless he made another one....

If you like wheelspin, yes.  Although (assuming 4 cylinder), you'd have to be giving it a fair bit of right foot or have wet roads to get much wheelspin.  Realistically you'll rarely have the ASR kick in, and all turning it off is going to do in a front wheel drive 156 is give you understeer if you do give it that much accelerator.

If you were going around the track in it, you could possibly gain a little bit of time by pushing the limits, but on the road, I'd say leave it on - you won't notice any difference in day to day driving, and it may just save you going up a gutter in a roundabout one day when the road conditions catch you off guard.

Not much help to you now I know but I now have a piece of 20 lb fishing line running the length of the cable tied through to the release just in case.

Ironically that's almost exactly what a 116 has from the factory as a backup!

Standard for GTV are about 24mm.  GTV6 i think are about 28mm.

28mm are the first 'upgrade' size.  Plastic bumper GTVs and GTV6s usually have 24mm (actually 23.something) bars, steel bumpered GTV and GTs normally 21? mm.

I think as the engine warms up quicker and therefore so does the gearbox.

Please explain?  The gearbox is not even attached to the engine in a GTV6, and so the only way it will get heat into it is by driving along. To a very small extent the heat given off by the exhaust will assist, but that far back in the system it will only get enough heat in it from running for a certain time.  I would suggest any shift improvement is a placebo effect.

Also, check your oil regularly with that engine oil - you will probably find it uses more with that grade oil.

Ok i have a 116 gtv6 have removed the v6 to continue my ongoing project, will the 2 litre just bolt to the same mounting points on the body?
Next question does anyone 2 litre mounts and engine brackets they wish to sell they are the only holding it all back from progressing forward.

No. The V6 mounts on the body sit further forwards in the engine bay, and I seem to remember were also a different bolt pattern.  You either need to modify the 4cyl mounts with a plate along the bottom (to extend them forwards to bolt into the v6 engine bay), or cut the v6 mounts off the body and weld in 4cyl ones in the correct spot.

the crown wheel has 41 teeth and has 11 41 bib on the side. that has to be a 4.1 doesnt it???

41 divided by 11 = 3.73

Change the intake tube between the AFM and throttle body.  There are aftermarket ones available which have a bigger diameter and no chambers hanging off them, this will likely make more difference than the filter.  Hugh at Monza Motors may know where to get one, or try the usual overseas suppliers.

Have you tried Monza Motors?

As for lowering, they could go another 6 feet.

12  General Category / Buy/Swap/Sell / Wanted: GTV6 Tailshaft on: June 30, 2008, 08:04:13 PM
Does anyone have a GTV6 rear tailshaft laying around surplus to requirements?  I actually only need the section from the centre donut back to the gearbox, but quite happy to take the whole thing....

2. are there two diff part numbers for a reason (maybe one if left and one is right)

I assume that one is low beam and one is high beam - low beam usually has a shield between the globe and lens, to cut down the brightness and bounce light back into the reflector, high beam doesn't.
