Not sure about the get a Korean car if the $1000 is too much comment though - I think its fair enough to shop around for a good deal... Plus excel's are not really my style...!

Yeah I know how rude - this forum's full of trolls! :-P

I had an Accent rental car once - I really didn't think it was possible to get a worse car.  Then next time I got a Getz, and realised how lucky I had been.

Seriously - if you ring around the mechanic shops listed on our sponsors page you'll get a fair price for an experienced person to do the job.  I honestly think if you want to get cheaper service then you should consider a Hyundai.

I had no idea top gear was that old!

I spoke to Neil last night - he is literally in a foetal position until Wednesday recovering.  He'll collate and post full results after that.

I think the guys at Italian Job can supply the aluminium stepper gears:  http://www.italianjobauto.com/

(remember if you ring them to tell them you were advised on the club website - they are sponsors).

Jim I was hoping to see some in-car of you diving under me just after the safety car was flagged :-)

Great photos and vid - keep em coming.  Flickr.com is definitely the way to go - remember to click the "slideshow" button up the top of the page for a full screen show of the photos.  Everyone should upload their photos to there and we can link to the slideshow.

Great day yesterday - 3 years and it just seems to get better!  Well done and thanks to all officials, volunteers, what a great job.

 Cry

That's a sad end to a very very very fast Sud.  I loved the in-car footage from that Sud.  Glad they are okay - although surely very sore.

I'll be setting my PVR to record the repeat tomorrow arvo, then I can burn you a DVD Phil - you are visible on track by the way!

Doesn't look like it's been uploaded yet, but it looks like all the classic restos episodes are available here: http://www.channelvision.com.au/classicrestos.asp - worth keeping an eye on.

I missed the first few minutes, but what a great show!

That's a good suggestion Lars - it also saves the club on storage costs.  I use flickr.com also.

Here's a couple of laps from that day that I've gotten around to compressing for youtube.  This was the mostly dry run I had, but still pretty slippery.

Correction - this was the Winton in August!

15  General Category / General Discussion / Re: alfa 156ti 2004.....WON'T START and lights flicker on: August 31, 2008, 11:10:56 PM
Yep definitely sounds like a dead battery.  Happened in our 156 a few months ago - I've never had a battery die in a modern car.  No warning at all, in all my old cars you had plenty of warning from slow cranking but on the 156 it just didn't start one day with the same symptoms - crazy dash lights and clicking.  I also thought something more dire had happened.
